Lackey has a real issue with pacing. She likes to build up the story to something you think will have quite the climax, and then she just rushes through it like she got bored with the book. Then she gives it a neat little ending and moves on. It's like this in almost all of her books.

I've noticed that in some of the books she coauthors, the climax tends to be more satisfying and not nearly so rushed.
