For Arathe

Title: Life is beautiful

Style: Drabble
Genre: Angst
Rating: PG
Word count: 100

This is an alter!Roy drabble. Though I personally can't figure if the person who touched Ed is the alter!Roy or if it is Roy and Ed's just breaking over alter!Roy.

Dedicated to

[personal profile] arathe and [profile] fae_elric for their wonderful alter!Roy writings.

Life is beautiful and fragile, like butterfly wings.
Push it too far and it will break, fluttering down to the floor in pieces; shattered beyond recognition.

One touch, that is all it took. A single brush, an accidental caress; and he broke.
A thousand shards: each one dripping down silver from his eyes, each one sticking in his throat. Each and every single shard ripping and tearing his soul apart.

A gloved hand is frozen, cotton tipped fingers still reaching out seeking something broken, pushed too far by darkness, its pale copy.

One boy, broken by fingers of a shadow.

I neglected to mention this when I reviewed on FFnet, but I would personally interpret this as Ed being touched by Roy-boy, not the General. I say that because Ed was so determined to go home, had waited five years and felt more disappointment over it than should be humanly possible... but all that was thrown out the window in an instant and you'd better believe that he was more than ready to stay.

... ^_^;;

I luff you!! *huggleglompcling*

I think it's more of a repressed feelings for wanting to go home and just see everyone again and to see/have Roy again and just that touch reminded him of everything he wants but doesn't get half the time.
And when he does of course, it's only a half-assed imitation.

I like the appeal of this as a universal alterworld drabble where Ed loved Roy and is alone in this/our world.

That was so lovely and sad. ;_;

I love poetic drabbles like this, and you really did a fantastic job with it. Poor Ed.

...I really should work on Conversion. You guys are putting me to shame. ;)

Thank you. ^_^
Is there anything in particular that you especially like?

Each and every single shard ripping and tearing his soul apart.

I loved the whole thing, but that really jumped out at me for some reason. Overall, the imagry behind it was just fantastic. ^^

When I read it, I tend to think of it as General Roy, simply because Alter!Roy doesn't wear gloves that often. XD

Er, that was me by the way. Didn't realize the darn thing logged me out. >.>;

...Y'know, now that I reread it, it does seem more like the General than Roy. 'Accidental', that's the word that sticks out in my mind. What happened between Ed and Roy was certainly no accident, but things with the General would be different.

Well, that's interesting.....
