01. you're the voice
"Dadouji-san, I have heard you posess a lovely singing voice." Eriol Hiragizawa approached Tomoyo Dadouji's desk with his hands clasped behind his back, smiling through those glasses of his.
"I don't know, Hiragizawa-kun, I have been told it's perfect by many people, but there is always that one note in a song that goes wrong." She waved her finger as she continued speaking. "Even after that song is perfected, there is still another note in another song which I'll get wrong."
He smiled charmingly as he nodded to her humility.
"Regardless, Sakura-san speaks highly of your vocal capabilities and I would like to know if you wish to acompany me later this afternoon as I play the piano so that I may hear your voice." His eyes crinkled as he issued the invitation.
"If you can play a piece I know, I would be glad to." Her eyes crinkled upwise in a fashion similar to his, delighted to hear an offer from an equally skilled musician.
"I will see you in music room three at three forty-five then, Dadouji-san." Eriol raised a hand in a gesture of farewell, still smiling charmingly as he walked away.
-
"Dadouji-san, you're early," Eriol commented as he walked through the music room door.
"I had a choir practise." She smiled easily as she placed some sheet music onto the piano. "If you don't mind."
He shook his head and sat down, scanning the pages and quickly flipping through them.
"Nothing too difficult, so I won't mind. However, had it been in six-eight I would've protested strongly at you testing your voice so." He smiled and then placed his hands upon the piano's keys.
"You are already warmed up?" A nod from Tomoyo. "Then let us begin."
The notes started off slowly; a gentle, rising melody soon joined by Tomoyo's clear voice. The melody soon plateaued, her voice rising above it, her singing floating above the gentle accompaniement like a bird; rythm it's wingbeats, the notes air currents on which it travelled.
It's flight was also like that of a bird's; a graceful dwindling of notes down to a close, a careful denoument to a landing that let those last few notes from both piano and voice trail off, only interrupted by a gentle clapping by the pianist himself.
"Wonderful Dadouji-san. Absolutely incredible." He looked sincerly at her while she smiled back, almost as angelic as her voice. "You truly have a voice."
