grassangel: Missy and the Twelfth Doctor kissing (my ship let me show you it)
It's episode eleven, which means Tosh and Owen are going to die! *sobs*

Anyway... this episode. I can see how you could get a whole bunch of Gwen haters from this. She was way too empathetic and focused on getting a happy ending for everyone who had someone go missing. It was annoying how she was so, too, idealistic. If the ending hadn't been what it had, I would've been annoyed. But the follow up was sweet and RIGHT.
So, over-empathising isn't that big of a character flaw but trying to make it right no matter what the cost is.
And perhaps it's just because I have a mother who works in a physc ward or perhaps I've read too many books, but she was a bit dumb for expecting everything to go right in that situation. If you hand someone or a situation that is alien and unrecognisable, they're going to shut down into denial and grief. Not a recipe for a happy ending.
(I do kind of wish she had done something to assuage everyone elses anxiety while letting them keep their hope though. Pessimistic Optimist, that's me.)

Anyway, 'heart' in Torchwood is good, it reminds you that people come first but too much and you end up hurting them.

A little ACTOR annoyance is how Eve Myles, when crying, always has the tear dribble from the middle of her eye. This annoys me slightly, mostly for aesthetics (it reminds me of Ulquiorra's markings) and because I do not know anyone who cries like that.

Anything else?
The greenhouse scene was rather tasteful. I am slightly of the opinion that it could've been a few seconds longer but it WAS fun.
I am rather confused by it though. Last time we saw the green/hothouse on-screen, we saw cactuses in glass cases. Now we have plants out in the open with large green leaves. To compound matters further, one of the books has it vaguely like it was this episode, but also has it double as a laboratory.
And er... I'll squeal over Ianto again. His discreetness is adorable.

The dragon mural popped up again too and I'm fairly certain it's red. Which also leads to the question why is there a red dragon graffitied on a Torchwood wall? Aside from purposes of patriotism? (It's pretty cool looking but kind of reminds me of Groudon.)
grassangel: Ichihara Yuuko from xxxHOLiC, sitting and smoking (Yuuko)
I fear, that after starting A Companion to Wolves and after watching the 2009 Brit TV music awards, I will have really weird dreams tonight.
Possibly involving Ianto and teddy bears from Harrods.

P.S. A Companion to Wolves is hilarious fun, possibly made even more so by the heavy references to Nordic myth. (But yet is something Ben would never, ever read.)
