Never mix brands of hair dye
Dec. 19th, 2008 03:32 amWell, not actually mix, because that'd be disastrous.
But, seeing as how this hair dye didn't fix to my previously coloured hair, I think I can safely say that switching brands because one is on special may not be such a good idea. (And also, while my dad is lovely at doing my hair (in contrast to my mother, who has such a gentle touch I can barely even feel her doing anything to it when I ask her to) he is not so good at helping me dye it and I shall thus return to doing myself, in spite of possible streakyness and sore arms. I can live with bits of clumps not being dyed, not entire chunks.)
The reason I say this is my previously coloured hair, which usually goes a much brighter red than my undyed, just grown hair, is darker than the new hair.
And there are streaky bits.
Maybe I should just give up and fork over close to a hundred dollars to get a hairdresser to do it evenly. (Because I think it would certainly cost about that much with how long my hair is.)
But, it's late and I didn't want to talk about hair dye.
No, I have a fic writer rec for those so Torchwood inclined.

Either sort the fics they've written by category, or just look at the most recent ones. All the Torchwood fics are fairly short, don't seem to have overused (in the Torchwood fandom anyway) plot devices to keep Ianto with Capt. Jack, almost all of them are under M rated and all but one are Capt. Jack/Ianto.
Benign Smiles is my favourite of the lot, even if Ianto isn't quite that possesive. (Also, cariad, the only other Welsh word I know off by heart aside from sassenach, is much love when used by Ianto. That's in Hearts That Break btw. Is angsty, but cute and IC.)

Date: 2008-12-19 01:48 am (UTC)I accidentally dyed my blonde hair bright, neon orange a few years back (it was a brown rinse, but something scewed up and it looked like it was going to be permanently orange - think the fruit, glowing), and I tried to dye it blonde myself, and it didn't work, went to a hairdresser, and she just succeeded in a paler shade of orange, then I went to a expensive place in the city and they managed to get it to the right, natural shade of blonde. AGH. Seriously, find a good hairdresser, you will love them :P
