It's a gorgeous poem and the reason why Neil Gaiman wrote it is wonderful too.

He is an amazing storyteller... I've seen footage of him at cons and the way he goes off on tangents is wonderful.

So far I have read Coraline and Stardust, is there any particular book of his you would recommend I read next?

Seeing as those are the two books I would suggest reading first, I think I only have Neverwhere and any collection of his short stories to recommend. Oh! And Good Omens too, though it was co-written with Terry Pratchett. (Which means, even though it borrows religious characters, is pure fun.)
American Gods is a bit weird; it wanders and is squicky in places.
But for non-book recommendations, I HIGHLY recommend MirrorMask, the movie he wrote.
Then there is The Sandman for which I would recommend all of it but to perhaps start with The Dream Hunters.

I would also ask Rhiannon on what she thinks you should read.
