So this is really a continuation of my last set of reviews...

Ghost hunt is based off the manga of the same name which is based off a novel which I don't know the name of.
Now, I've only read the 2nd and 3rd volumes of the manga. So I have no idea how the first volume went or what the story is supposed to be like.

So instead I'll probably base this off style of the animation.

Shibuya is gorgeous for an art style that isn't as shoujo as previous years. However, his voice (for me anyway) is just about spot on. It does put me in the mind of another character I've heard but that shall be investigated later.
Lin is kind of… more cold than I expected. However, there is that Lin-Shibuya thing that makes you just wonder what kind of loyalties there are.
Mai is a bit less tomboy-ish than I expected, a bit more Tohru and Haruhi-ish than I would ideally like, as well as the pretense of her becoming his assitant is more Ouran than I would also like. (But the fact she appears to stay on later in the manga assures me that this isn't an Ouran/Furuba clone)
I love her 'Narcisstic Naru-chan" moment though.

Matsuzaki Ayako is… somewhat what I was expecting. Though I love Mai's and Houshou's reactions to her being a "pure and innocent virgin"
Takigawa Houshou, the wayward musician monk is what I was expecting though, with slightly darker hair than I expected… But he's just a funny as he was in the manga.
Oh! John! He's speaks Kansai-ben and he's from Australia! Personally, I think they matched Australian accent to Kansai, but that's just me… But it's still good to know for sure what Kansai-ben is. And kind of funny as well.
Hara Masako is just like she is in the manga. A bit less cold than I actually expected and a bit less snipy...

I think this series was aimed at an older audience as the end and opening themes are more like movie intro and outro themes as well as the fact, that while Mai is fifteen/sixteen, the majority of the characters are older and more mature.

There are also puns! Like when they count off in the beginning, ichi-ni-san-shi, shi is also a word for death and a few moments later someone comments they thought they were about to die.
There were some nice split screens that resembled manga panels; a nice reminder from it's manga predescessor. Also, the subbers (ureshii) were particularly lovely in providing little notes like the official translated manga does.

It has pretty end music though, lovely and instrumental and a pretty animation.

I learnt Uso-No way! From this ep.

Now, the thing that Black Lagoon and Ghost hunt have in common with each other is that they have two episode introductions. Like FMA and Inuyasha as well.

So as I haven't watched the second episode… that'll have to wait a while.

----

Black Lagoon.

The most kick-ass, seiyuu stereotype breaking anime I have ever seen.
Levi is voiced by Megumi Toyoguchi who usually voices whiny clingy female characters, does a spectacular job of voicing Levi, rough and coarse in all her ways. (And sounds a bit Yoruichi like as well)

Rokuro/Rock is voice by the actor who previously has done Fai and also bends his seiyuu stereotype.
However most of the other roles fit mostly into their assigned 'roles'. Person who did the original voice of Sanji the chef is there as are a few other famous roles.

But I'm here for mostly story. But as the first two episodes focus mainly on how Rock came to be with the pirates, there's nothing much I can say aside from the fact I'm very very intruiged and want to watch more, especially after Levi glosses over here origins. (There were a couple of end series ED spoiler themes which REALLY intruiged me)

But yeah, is kickass anime that has a manga as well. AND a second series. Again, I'll have to continue with updates.

Ja!
