Amidst all the tweets I saw on Saturday, one made me squeal and be entirely too happy.
It was this:
‘No lo-‘, I don’t know what, BUT SEASON THREE IS COMING. Of course, the video and, sadly, the radio plays, are region-locked. Possibly the photo galleries later on as well, BUT THE WALLPAPERS ARE UP. And they are, quite frankly, hilarious.
All the teamwallpapers mug shots are amusing (despite the repetitious shots), as Jack’s expression always seems to be the odd one out. Ianto’s all ANGRY and EYEBROW QUIRK and Gwen’s all GLARE STARE and then her slight-tilt-of-the-head and side parting make her look as if she’s eyebrow quirking as well.
And Jack’s just neutral. Someone over fluffed his hair as well.
Then in the group action shots, Ianto has this little pasted on cut which annoys me. It immediately cries ‘Poor Ianto!’ at you. Which combined with his expression in the second action shot annoys me. Even if he does seem to be carry a machine gun of some kind and you can tell he’s got more manly arm hair than Jack. He’s also resting his arm on Jack’s knee which is a subtle visual way of saying “I lean on you”.
Then Jack’s grasping Gwen’s arm, which is either saying ‘Stay close to me!’ or that the UST is still there. I vote for the latter. Especially since Gwen’s looking off in the distance/future/pointedly not at him. The way her hands have been arranged also highlights her ring.
There’s also random!stool which Jack is sitting on, leaving Ianto and Gwen to rough it out on the ground… and I could go on about composition and line of sight and body language but I think that’d push me into crazy fangirl territory.
Because thinking that they’re posed deliberately to support one ship or another because the photographer is biased is definitely crazy. Although I wouldn’t put it past them [the creative director/whoever] to deliberately ask for a team-y (doubling as OT3-y) shot just to annoy people. I’d certainly do that. (Annoying people deliberately by posing people provocatively, not so much the OT3 thing. Except being in charge of photo shoots and being pairing-biased/fandom-aware would be kind of fun.)
The producers definitely love Rhys’ actor though. They even gave him a set of wallpapers! And it’s kind of fun and relieving to see jeans and a nonchalant expression after jackets and suits, SERIOUS expressions and buttkick.
Although I do like Gwen’s boots. BUCKLES!
I’ve just written over three hundred words on the wallpapers. *headpalms* But since fandom tends to be fail-ish (i.e. too much angst, too much Jack/Ianto, not enough other pairings) at least I can squee without getting overly mopey or angry.
Or getting half-hysterical/half-displeased because people nickname Ianto ‘Yan’ which when repeated twice hilariously becomes an Asian foodstuff composed of biscuit sticks and a sweet, flavoured dip. (There’s a dirty joke in there somewhere and I just hope no Torchwood fen ever finds an Asian food store that sells them and is hit by a plot bunny.)
In other news, I went to donate blood on Monday. The previous attempt failed miserably, but this time, as people who are Facebook friends know, I actually succeeded.
Well, the nurses succeeded. I just kind of sat there and bled for them. But that’s totally cool.
But it seems that even if I do warn them that my veins are hard to find, they don’t bother looking to the side of where they usually look. Where there apparently IS a nice large vein that is very visible. *head desks*
The first person did find a vein in both my arms, but they were too deep. The one he thought was better and tried to get to just ended with the needle missing and my arm feeling very weird for a couple of minutes. Then another nurse came and tried finding one on the other arm, except couldn’t. So they then brought over another nurse who apparently is quite skilled at these things and SHE found the one to the side of my arm.
I suspect that something similar will happen the next time I go, unless I manage to get the same nurse. Or they make a note in my file.
For those who are curious, I am not particularly phobic of needles. Getting injections or IVs is no big deal for me, but I do NOT like seeing the needle actually go into my skin. I suspect this would be the same of any needle to pierce my skin except for sewing ones. In which case I am glad that I don’t particularly want any piercings below my neck. (Except for nail piercings, which are weird but absolutely painless and use a drill bit instead.)
So, needle problems aside, I actually donated blood. Hurrah! This also means I eventually get to find out what my blood type is. Either by getting a letter in the mail or when I visit next time.
Also, no vampire jokes please. I'm reading my way through Vampire Knight again. Missing kick-ass vampires currently and girls who have will. Yuuki, after reading about Maree? She can't even hold a candle to her. (Pun not intended but a very nice one regardless.) Will post about that later.
