So, the aftermath of the busy-ness is that I am up one cat tail and useless set of cat ears and have 87.5% (or 17.5 out of 20) on my assessment.

The picnic was fun, as all cosplay events usually are, and for once I did not crash and sleep for two hours afterwards.
Both of these facts are probably influenced by the fact that it wasn't exactly sunny on Saturday.

I still need to finish my kitchen design.

We were under cover though, so it was all good. Most of us also had the decency to either wrap up warm or to come a little bit later.

Wow! That's pretty good. ... I guessing the weather was kinda' bad for your picnic which kinda' sucks, bu glad to hear it wasn't a total loss.

Kitchen design huh? Residential or Commercial? Both are pretty fun however.

Commerical of course. I don't suppose you've got any tips?

Hmm, well I guess it would be best to think about your work triangles and the space needed to do your work in a space. What you want is that the area is big enough for the number of people working, but not so big as you waste time and effort traversing the space to get to your corner and do your job. And adequate lighting without getting glare is a good thing. Oh and ample storage for everything. Are you focusing more on overall layout or material selections?

I'm guessing for the codes requirements, substrate materials, fireproofing, mold resistant, data drops, electrical wiring and location as well as proper voltage and stuff will be left for someone else right? Is it a project for school, or are you working on the preliminaries for a real building? Not that it makes much of a difference, just curious.

We were focusing more on workflow/layout as well as a tiny little bit about materials and what measures were in place for health and safety.

And yes, all the code requirements and stuff was pretty much NOT TOUCHED on. Mostly because it was a project for school. (And handed in today as well, eep.)

Awesomeness. It's always interesting to know what other professions are learning about when it comes to stuff like this.

Trust me it's a good thing, as it gets really monotonous and tedious really fast, but it's a good thing codes are there. (Ooh, Good luck then!)

I personally take the stance that architects and so forth KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING and all the finicky details and such should be handled by them, especially if you don't know what you're doing.

And a week later I realise I haven't included what type of ovens or stoves are being used. *hopes that won't be too much of a problem*

This is a good point. There would be fewer cases of bad design if it was the case, but who knows maybe it was more so you would know more about what you want in a kitchen so you know how to better express to the architect/designer what you want if/when the situation comes up.

I hate it when I do something silly like that, which happens more often than I'd like to admit. >,> That shouldn't be too bad for you I'm hoping. Though appliance choice drastically changes the price based on what you pick, and the dimensions needed but eh. Good luck!

I think the whole exercise was more: so we know what an effecient workplace looks like and that if we have a chance to construct our own, we can design one that can work well.

And... we didn't have any budget restrictions what so ever on our designs. But yes, hopefully it will be all good.
