The thing about the New Zealand news being obsessed with RTDs, or Ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages, is that my mind AUTOMATICALLY translates that into Russel T Davies. So I end up wondering for a moment why they want to ban an UK screenwriter, who probably does have an Agenda (notably the gay and the green it seems) but is otherwise harmless, until my brain catches up and realises they're talking about alcohol. (Alcohol being the glue that seems to hold together kiwi social interactions (because no one has heard of having fun and getting along apparently), which kind of sucks when you are a person who sees no appeal in that tingly alcoholic taste.)

Thank you fandom.

In more serious news, I have to come up with a dessert for my final assessment. I have narrowed it down to a few options, but I'm being horribly wishy washy about it, so if you could please take the following poll:

[Poll #1541931]

I ask this now because I will need to give my tutor an equipment list within the next week.

Fruit salad or parfait. Warm weather--definitely fruit.

Unfortunately... we're just moving into colder weather at the moment. Just moving into it, but it's still there. And I am worried a bit about only having frozen berries, oranges, pears and apples for fruit.

Aren't all alcoholic beverages "ready to drink?" I'm a teetotaler myself (or planning to be, once I reach drinking age), since I never found a good reason to drink. Unfortunately, alcohol seems to be the glue of American college life, too. :/

I voted for the tart, if only because it's what I would prefer to eat as a dessert. A mousse or a fruit salad would be a lot more refreshing if you're making a main course before the dessert, though.

Well, they're premixed drinks. Or like normal non-tea/coffee beverages with alcohol in them. One of those two options, I'm not entirely sure. (I think there are varieties of both.)

I can legally drink in New Zealand (legal age is 18) but... aside from special occasions and in food (I had to make a kirsch cream tonight and OMG it was delicious) I just don't drink. Partly because of my sweet tooth but also because I see it as fundamentally pointless when there are tastier things elsewhere.
Sadly, the drinking culture here extends BEYOND university and into the workforce and even into retirement. To be fair though, the "it isn't a party unless you get piss-faced drunk" mindset is USUALLY amongst the uni students.

The assessment is a two course meal; a main and dessert. The main is lemon risotto, turned vegetables and chicken breast in chasseur (mushroom and tomato and onion and beef stock) sauce.
I am heading towards parfait or tart at the moment. I have a lot of ingredients available to me for the dessert, which almost defeats the purpose of a magic box.

The main course sounds delicious! I envy the person who gets to eat it. (Also, since I failed to write this before, good luck!)
