In progress pics of a necklace.

Finished necklace. On me and on the dummy.

Detail shots of said necklace.

A shrug made out of a t-shirt (actually a turtleneck) made using this tutorial. It took maybe 45 minutes all up and only because I had to unstitch a couple things, sew over a couple things and meticulously pin stuff.

Earrings.

A charm thing, which I am still unsure what I am going to do with. (I may need to make another trip to the craft or hardware store.)

An old shirt I am replacing the sleeves on because they are too short and taking in a bit because I am not a rectangle.

The sleeve I am using as a template. Since I am going to use a floaty fabric, I will probably make bell shaped sleeves. What does the flist think of this?
And yes, the only decent place to take photos of clothes on the mannequin is behind the TV.
I went on Saturday, which was the day of the Paul McGann panel. Which was reasonably interesting, in that I learnt that he kind of wishes that the series was taken on, that he’s an amateur physicist and likes wearing historical costume and is apparently not too tall or broad so he gets to wear the actual things. Also, he is upset about being de-canonised. (Which I giggled a bit over, because, yeah, same word as being unsainted.)
I got to meet up with

And Rory has grown tall and broad and looks like a bogan and this is very much at odds with the picture of him as a fifteen year old. Thankfully he still likes explosions, robots, webcomics, anime and Doctor Who, so it wasn’t too bad. There was no AMV screening though, because they apparently had only three entries.
I also got to met a couple more CNZers in person and that did mean I was a bit less not knowing anyone. I even met a couple of people who I recognised but couldn’t remember WHERE I’d met. Which was rather odd.
Also, much like Ame kept running into Raikou, I kept on spotting a lone ten!Doctor cosplay. By the end of the day, I was very tempted to run into them again and say ‘cool cosplay’ except of course I didn’t get a chance too because it was almost five and I had the beginnings of a headache (which didn't result in much as I did consume something like three litres of water that day) and it appeared that he had left.
On the subject of loot, I got two DVDs. For only $55 combined, which is absolutely awesome as DVDs are usually $35-90 EACH over here, depending on if they're a movie or a season of a TV show.

Coraline is very good, especially in 3D, even if it did take me two days to figure out there are settings on both the DVD player and the TV that need to be adjusted in order to view it properly. (Anyone who hasn’t seen this movie yet should, especially if they’ve read the book or are a Gaiman fan. The music is absolutely gorgeous and so is the animation. I will lend this DVD to you or hold a movie night if I have to to get you to see this movie.)

Whitcoulls IS AWESOME when it comes to DVDs. (Books, not so much.) But I was able to get a copy of Torchwood: Children of Earth. Yes, I still need to do a write up on that, but at least this time I won’t complain about TVNZ or the horrible luck my family had while trying to watch it. (Which I will do regardless, since it is pretty funny in hindsight.) Also, did I mention that both of these only came to $55? I may have just found a really good reason to go to Armageddon in the future.
I boycotted the $10 (!!!) Doctor Who photo prints because I reason I can probably find high-res scans of them anyway and print them off myself. Also, I couldn’t decided between and awesome 10!pose or 10 & Sarah Jane (+ TARDIS) and I didn't fancy spending $20 on getting both. That and the fact there was too much Doctor/Rose prints when I really wanted Doctor+Martha or Doctor+Donna. (There were absolutely NO Martha prints. This made me sad. (I also couldn't get to the other Doctor Who stand, which was mostly stickerbooks from what I could see.)

What I did get was a bunch of badges. Which don’t have their pins straight, so I will have to be rather creative in my pinning. (And find something to pin them on…) But yes, i have fandom badges now, which are always fun. I got, as you can see in the picture: two Doctor Who (including a ‘Vote Saxon’ one, which was the last one on the stand), one CCS, one Vocaloid (Rin & Len), two fandom (‘’Yaoi fangirl’ and ‘I <3 cosplay’) and polkadots and one that says ‘none of the above’.
This is the ticket to the Neil Gaiman talk. You've seen it before.

This is the autograph I got in my copy of Coraline. You have not seen it before.

That would indeed be Rory. He's doing something design related. He's well over six foot, so next time you see someone that looks like him, shout 'Oi, Rory' at them.
I only keep running into Barnaby in bookshops.
D< And Simon at eltec.
Thank you!
(And I have no idea what happened there to make me accidentally paste a URL there...)
