grassangel: a teacup filled with flowers (hello)
FIRSTLY, thank you Rhiannon for reminding me the Dr Who special was on tonight otherwise I would've totally remembered some date like the 14th or 16th WHICH WOULD'VE BEEN TOO LATE.

And if it weren't for the fact that I had watched the special, I would totally be posting about the recent Amazon Fail, bits 'n' bobs about LGBT, other-genders and other stuff, commenting on the lyrics to some Vermillion Lies' songs or my own views on the silliness of labels. (I'm currently reading 'The Birthday of the World' by Ursula K. LeGuin and I'm flapping in excitement at her reimaginings of sex, gender and beyond roles.)

So tomorrow will see that post.

Tonight sees me NOT squeeing over this special.
Mostly because RTDavies isn't that great a writer IMO.
It was a squidgy feel-good Christmas-y episode, so maybe that's what he had in mind. ~(O_o)~

Jackson what'shisname was a very cool character though and the Doctor got a happy Christmas too! (Well, dinner at least.) He also didn't emo too much or get a temporary companion only to get worked up about their usual parting. I LIKE THIS CHANGE FROM THE PAST SPECIALS.
It makes me want a (New!Who) male companion who ISN'T there because of some female.

Uh... the general steampunk-ness was kind of fun and I can tell that EVERYONE had fun with those furry black things.
There was also some geekery over the kids' costumes, but 1850 is totally not my time period. (1930's or 1540-1600, yeah, but not industrial revolution.)

Nothing much else really. Except my mum is still astounded by the factoids I know and that this thing called the Internet holds details of when the latest DW special aired in the UK. (Whereas I think my dad just wants to avoid spoilers. Somewhat. I actually think he was the only one not to know who died in 2.13 of TW...)
