a linkdump of stuff: third times a charm

Five times Rory met Jack – I will admit that I read this ahead of the finale. But it’s not too spoilery, and the last part is rather cute.
A Little Death – Death/Rob Galding, written for one of the early Porn Battles but isn’t actually that bad and… this take on their relationship is really rather sweet. Also, obvious pun.
The Effect of Dimensional Transcendence on Mozzarella Cheese by Diane Duane – What’s this, fanfiction written by a published author? Joking aside, Diane Duane is very much a fan of Doctor Who and this was published for a charity anthology and has a yummy-looking recipe at the end.
A Dinner In Belgravia – The sequel to the above, which also has a tomato sauce recipe at the end. (Which also looks yummy.) This also counts as a Doctor Who/Sherlock Holmes crossover as well…
OH&S – You know what bothers me, even though I now know the PASIV system uses self contained, easy to use needles and cannula, that are probably sterile one-use things and THAT THE GOD-DAMNED MANUAL says to swab and cotton ball, there is no sign at all of this in the movie. This fic was written as an answer to that irritation. For that reason, it is worth reading. You should continue because it’s YUSEF and Saito and Arthur and Eames are hilarious. Also, it’s by mercurial_wit, which means… instant something.
Patter of Little Feet – A Howl’s Moving Castle/Discworld crossover. Guess, just GUESS, what it’s about. (It’s funny, of course.)
Medicine for the Soul – Archive of Our Own hosts a rather nice little collection of Doctrine of Labyrinths fic. This is one of them, and is a sweet little coda to Corambis.
With Hidden Noise – A story of how everyone - Ariadne, Eames, Arthur, Yusuf, Mal, Cobb, Saito – got their totems. I particularly like Saito’s but that may just be me…
New in Town, and Mathematics; by Little Boots – I’m getting a little sick of everyone comparing EVERY single female ‘electronic’ artist to Lady Gaga. But anyway, Little Boots is a softer dance electronic, with much nicer lyrics. Also, British just like La Roux and The Tings Tings, both of which I liked one song of before completely forgetting, though it looks like it won’t be the case with this artist. Also, New In Town is the catchier of the two songs, but Mathematics is the one I love the best.
Secret; Megurine Luka, composed by aRth – Yeah, a VOCALOID song. But the PV is awesome and aRth composes some good stuff. (This also suffers a little from Gaga-itis, but Luka Gaga sounds amusing.)
I’m Still Alive; Metric – There’s another horrible habit I have, which is picking up a song from artists that have contributed to the Twilight soundtracks. It’s vaguely irritating, but soundtracks =/= a movie, so I’ll just assume it a sign of good taste. The acoustic version of this is good too by the way.
Cremation Tune; Hatsune Miku, composed by No. D(?) - The cover is better. I love the original PV and the song isn’t half bad either.
Game On; The Guild – Because the cast can actually sing and the whole thing is rather humorous. And better than the first one.
Ur-style -Easypop remix feat. *Airi-; original song sung by Kagamine Rin, composed by DATEKEN – Which has to be the longest link text to a song ever. But yeah, I love all of DATEKEN’s works, Airi’s voice is pretty and I fall so very hard for remixes.
Hello Planet; Makoron dance version – Hello Planet, that adorable 8-bit style song for Hatsune Miku, HAS A DANCE. And I want to learn it. =3=
Just Be Friends; dance version – Speaking of dance versions, here’s one of JBF!
And a Bad Apple one – but the outfits are nifty.
PS22 Chorus "JUST DANCE" by Lady Gaga – As my flist is generally fond of Lady Gaga and I am of the opinion choruses make every song better, you get this link. (And read the intro on the blog. Makes the song 100x better.)
Pyromania; Cascada – Ball headed back-up dancers with glowing teeth, wat. A very catchy song, but the video? Yeah, a bit weird.
Just Be Friends (cosplay PV) – This is purely because the fine art of cosplay PV deserves more attention.
Pokemon Reorchestrated – This is for all the music/Pokemon geeks on my flist. It is simply epic, there are no other words for it. Listen, and have your eyes fill with tears at the beauty.
Dub Star; Protohype – Yay, remixes. Their Brown Paper Packages, I Choose You and Boats and Birds remixes are also awesome.
Pokemon G/S/C Remix: Dark Cave – MOAR POKEMON REMIXES. Because they are awesome.
Elephant, Elephant; Evelyn Evelyn (puppet music video) – Puppets! Adorability + earworm = SMILES FOR MILES.
Uraniwa ni Zombies ga / 芝生にゾンビが – You know that game, Plants vs Zombies? This is Japanese version of the the very soft and cute music video promotion ‘Zombies on Your Lawn’. Japanese makes everything twice as cute.
Nohohon-zoku – I am writing a fanfic concerning these things. This page is relatively useful, especially in terms of UK name and availability.
Popcorn, Soda ... Murder? Walkthrough – A while ago I linked to Choice of Dragon, an online choose your own adventure style game. The site is open to user-submitted games, and the first one to pop up was Popcorn, Soda… Murder?. I found it a bit difficult to move past the first stage, so here is the walkthrough video submitted by the creator.
Explorations on inconvenient product design – Stolen pretty much from the Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories linkdump, this is a neat post about how inconvenient packaging could help discourage things like smoking.
PBJ Ice Cream Cone – This just seems rather interesting to me. Except my usual peanut butter sandwich variations aren’t exactly ice cream friendly. (Cheese/blue cheese or marmite. Yeah….)
Make your own mitarashi dango – I kind of want to try this….
Animifying – A Danbooru pool, so the usual warnings for NSFW applies, but it has anime-style House, SG-1, Star Trek, Bones, Spongebob Squarepants, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, Lady Gaga, and the infamous Alan Moore genderswap. (There was also a Neil Gaiman genderswap somewhere, which I think I saved…)
On usernames – Because people discarding their usernames makes me sad too and I like having a username that isn’t my real name. (Even though most of my usernames are BASED on my real name, it’s not really the same thing.)
CERN invents lots of things. Like trackball mice. – Because CERN’s cool like that.
The Colour of Mirrors – A gorgeous animation reflecting on how the East and West influence each other.
Liquid metal death spiral – Or er… something like that. The music is pretty but what’s fascinating is that it’s mercury pulled into spiky cones through magnetics. (I think, based on inference in the comments.)
An academically minded documentation of the start of slash – This is very much a work in progress, but it does look very interesting and something to keep an eye on perhaps. (Not that it’s been updated for six years…)
Robin McKinley's Blog – Robin McKinley is one of those author’s who has been recommended to me, but I’ve never been able to get hold of her books consistently. So I suppose her blog will have to do. It has footnotes.
European Cuisines dot com – I’m not quite sure if Diane Duane also manages… or perhaps is simply a fan of this site, but it’s fun anyway. (And I can just imagine some kind of Hetalia cooking bingo wherein you use that website to select a dish from each country that appears that is European.)
An observation upon serial narratives – What it says, which sheds some light upon why some people ‘save up’ manga chapters to read all in one go and the phenomenon of anticipation creating fic/other creative outlets for one’s anxiety about a story.
The Cobol Job: An Inception prequel comic – Yeah, what it says on the tin. The first of a few prequel comics I believe.
Colourful polymer clay tiles – Actually, that entire gallery is full of gorgeous polymer clay art.
Anoki/magic-8-ball – Artist. Likes gold pens and using origami paper for texture. Does watercolours. GUH. (And er, does anthro and yaoi stuff so yeah, you’ve been warned.)
Crystal Dragon – Artist, again. Has a website which you can see more stuff on. And another for all the yaoi stuff.
Single Transferrable Vote & How to give the person you hate a lesser chance at winning – This should’ve been posted BEFORE the end of local elections… oh well…
How to make a Dalek – Well, a place to download instructions on how to make one.
Michael Ruhlman – I’ve only really added this food blog person thing because there was a recipe for gluten free crumbed chicken as the first post when I visited.
Porcelain punk – It was only a matter of time. But those little porcelain pistols are rather cute.
How to Make Hats – You too can make your very own Nice Hat. This is actually just one book on the vintage sewing site and actually has tons more if you just look up near the top. Resources range from 1950s to pre-1900s.
Dawn's Costume Patterns – Moar costuming links. These ones are simple, but I suppose you can expand on that.
Steampunk Crystal Glow Lamp – SHINY. Also, it uses dead highlighters and hollowed out light bulbs. Ubercool.
Hollow out a light bulb – You probably need a hollowed out light bulb to do the above…
Historical patterns – I think I may have linked this before… but anyway, historical patterns ranging from Victorian to Edwardian in a variety of women’s, children’s and men’s. Well, mostly women’s but eh, free historical patterns!
Gorgeous naturalistic/fiary headdress... thing – and how to make it!
A good couple of months worth of links. Including a lot of miscellaneous that I couldn't be bothered sorting into other categories.
