Feb. 13th, 2007 06:48 pmTitle: Happily never after
Theme: 14, 'I see my life in shades of rose'
Series: Cinderella (traditional fairy tale version)
Characters/Pairing: Cinderella
Rating: PG+ (contains dark themes, although nowhere near as bad as having toes cut off)
Note: This is just... really really odd. I blame it on deadline nerves.
It's dark here, the sun having set a long time ago, the view through the window dull and shadowy.
The view it still eeriely pretty though, gentle twilight layered over the landscape like a veil over a young bride's face.
I was once a bride, with young, flushing cheeks and a frothy white dress, fresh flowers and all. I walked down that aisle and felt so alive, so vibrant.
It's so different from those enchanted days these ancient years; so different when I married a prnce because of a slipper that had twisted itself upon my foot, closing coldly around my life like it had my foot.
Since that day, flowers have been delivered daily to my door and silken towels have been laid out to wipe my feet.
Those flowers have darkened now, their dry petals floating slowly to the floor; those silken towels have long ago crumbled, their threads drifting in the wind.
Everything is dead now, or almost dead.
Still, the view outside is beautiful, setting sun casting rose sharp shadows, their stilletto points extending towards this castle, towards its heart, towards mine.
I was once a princess.
