You find some pretty cool stuff. ESPECIALLY if you look in the artisan crafts under tutorials. The tutorials section is pretty cool anyway.
Like how to make an Ed plush
Octopus charms (I am so going to make one; they're just so cute!)
Chainmail I & II (I'm going to send links to my dad because he's making a chain-mail bracelet for me.)
How to make shiny things fromuseless CDs
A temari ball (I'd view it now, but it's a PDF and my laptop doesn't like those)
And then....
A My Little Pony series of tutorials, showing how you can make customs.
I, II, III, IV, V
I NOW WANT TO DO SOME.
If only so I can make the infamous Bleach MLPs. [Here because I'm too lazy to link all the indivual deviations]
Only problem is.... How would I make Ishida white... And Hitsu and Rukia
BLEACH!
I really mean the caustic substance by the way... Not the show which I am already talking about anyway.
I don't get why there are billions of shading tutorials though. Find a light source and find a way of multiplying the media you are using.
If it's pencil (colour or graphite) just keep on shading and shading, maybe switching to a darker shade. If it's paint, blend to a darker shade. Marker, just go over it again. Digital, use a darker shade or multiply and blend.
Light source indicates which areas will be lighter and and where shadows fall. If it's a bit difficult to figure out, do a mock up. (Did a stair shading the other day, had to do this)
EASY. Use common sense!
I can understand marker tutorials though. Even though some of them seem to be the artist showing off rather than actually doing any teaching. And I guess other, less well known medias can do so too... But paint and pencil are pretty much common sense/trial and error.
*looks back on her rant* I think my subscription to the 'learn by playing with your media' school of thought is fully paid for.
And on that note I leave you with this thought:
"There is nothing like forbidden fruit in our relationship, only fruit."
