grassangel: a pastel and cute cat balancing a multi-coloured ball on its head (Rukia - Sode no Shirayuki)

I am somehow amused by the fact I found natto by starting with Doctor Who and the episode 'The Girl in the Fireplace' (which is, incidently, one of my favourite episodes). Due to a combination of looking up Madame du Pompadour, then going to champagne glasses, then sake cups (there were links to flask comparisons at the bottom, so now we know exactly what type of flask is being used). I then went and searched TEA cups (kinda counts?), which lead to the meal tea, which lead to a list of regular meals, including tiffin which somehow approximates to bento. But that wasn't were I found natto. No, I went to breakfast which then listed Marmite under Australia and NZ as breakfast food.

Then at the bottom of that article randomly linked to natto.

Apparently natto polarises people to the order of blue cheese, vegemite and marmite and some weird other dishes... and as long as bagong isn't on that list, it seems as if I'd actually like natto.
It says it smells strongly of cheese and slightly amonia-like.
It looks like baked beans without the sauce.
I would assume it's got some kind of similarities in taste to blue cheese and marmite.

Therefore I think I would like it.
Just as long as it isn't like rotting fish, fermented eggs or remotely resembles anything spicy.

*thumbs up*

Marmite also has the honour of being extremely umami.
