grassangel: a pastel and cute cat balancing a multi-coloured ball on its head (Ishida)

I have nothing better to do, aside from maybe touching some fics... but anyway, a piccy post!

I got them over a week ago, so I'm now used to them. (Well, mostly. I still get a bit disoriented when I turn my head quickly and my eyes still get a bit tired at the end of the day.)

Also, I figure out why anime glasses sometimes go opaque/so shiny you can't see a person's eyes.
They don't have that anti-glare coating on them. All anime characters are cheapskates and can't be bothered to get the coating and pay $50 extra for it.

Makes a change from fishy progress, yes? I still haven't finished that... But it's getting there. Unfortunately, all the Tanpopo stuff is taking up my ironing boar- workspace I mean.
At least it isn't my mother's paper weights...

So yeah, he's got his crest and tail, both of which have wire in them so they're poseable. And no, this version will be without wings. (I'm doing two, one which is needle-felted [this one] and a full plushie one.) The reason I'm doing two is because it'd be too much trouble to make one with wings that fold in realistically and are pretty when they fold out.
I may be a biologist and a handcrafts person, but I can't create something THAT realistic.
Besides, I have a pattern which I can change and adapt for the spread out wings version, and the needle-felted one doesn't need one so much.

Anyway, for the other plushie, the wings will have wire in them too. (As will Mokona v.2a and v.2b in their ears.)
The feet are going to be interesting on this one though. I'm also resorting to felt and wire sandwich, but because they're so small, and I need to attach them to the main body.... yeah, problems. Possibly. I think it's going to go along well, I'm just anxious.
(I'm sure that's a great insight into my personality: being optimistic, slightly pessimistic and overly anxious.)

Oh yeah, I also got felt for the Mokona v.2. two sheets each of pristine white and black high-quality felt. *sighs happily*
Random question: should the lining of their 'stomachs' be felt or something else? I'm tempted to make it something else to stand up to being shoved full of stuff.

Anyway, progress is being made on Tanpopo 1. That's all you really need to know. His eyes, beak and markings should be on soon-ish. Then, shortly after that, his feet.

No piccys of fishy, as I haven't done much more to him.
I have however, completed another machine-felted scarf in pretty orange/red colours. No pics this time though...

Sorry, can't help myself from posting even more pics.

This cake, aside from the most recent one, which was a mocha flavoured one, is the best looking cake so far. And best tasting too. (Something which the mocha cake can't claim: it's a bit too dry.)
I also made some shaker lemon pie recently, but I have no pics of it yet. The lemon custard is REALLY good, but I don't like lemon slices....

She was going to be blonde. But then the yellow turned golden and then orange.
I don't think it's supposed to look so much like Orihime either... but eh, I just wanted to doodle and colour, so I did.
I like doodling food too. You have a strawberry ripple cone and a fairy/butterfly cake.

A fairy/butterfly cake, if they don't have those in the states, is a cupcake with the top sliced off, with a dollop of cream/icing before the cut off top (which has been cut in half to form 'wings') is placed on the dollop. Sometimes you also add sprinkles or other decoration.

I can't remember which name is the one everyone uses...
I should make some. Some dairy free and gluten free ones and bring them to school! (Why yes, I shall use chiffon cake mix)

Also, I can't wait for summer to come around again. I want to make stuff like cinnamon ice cream, spiced cranberry sorbet and many other yummies.

The bird is looking so good! The felt and wire really looks good. I can easily figure out who he is without you telling me. Course, i'm bad at names anyways, but you know.

Tanpopo is so easily identifiable once you've seen him. (I assume it's a him...)
And thank you! I can't wait until I can get him to perch on my finger.
