grassangel: a smiling Thirteenth Doctor with a flower behind her ear (13)
Title: Dressing Up

Series: Doctor Who
Character/Pairing: 13/Dhawan!Master, past 12/Missy
Genre: More romance than not
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 882
Summary:
The Doctor suggests that the Master could've worn his old dress instead of a suit.
It leads to a discussion that is as much about regeneration as it is about who wore the dress better.
also available on AO3

"You should've worn your dress," the Doctor says, coming up behind the Master where he's sitting in one of the TARDIS's many staircases. "The sparkly black one. It's still there in the wardrobe. We even passed it to get Graham some shoes."

He ignores her, continuing to twist the cuff she'd slapped on him after the Unfathomable had turned on him. It's been upgraded from the one he'd put on her in the Vault and he hasn't found a way to take it off yet. He will, he always does, but until then he's stuck to the Doctor's side or restricted to her TARDIS.

"You looked nice in it," she adds, sitting down beside him, flicking the length of her coat back so she doesn't sit on it.

The Master's lip curls at her comment. Typical Doctor, remembering him as a past version he no longer was, that no longer existed except as a memory. He's fond of the old girl though, and she wouldn't have let her Doctor say that without comment so he says it for her. "Pig."

"Oi!"

Title: the wind is up; so; drift away

Series: Doctor Who
Character/Pairing: 13/Rose, past 10/Rose, implied one-sided 13/Yaz, plus Ryan Sinclair
Genre: Gennish romance
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 949
Dedication: For Resa, who made my imagination run away with itself by tweeting about 13 meeting Rose.
Summary:
Dozens of rips in the fabric of time and space are blinking open and closed across Sheffield. Along with dinosaurs, they bring a familiar face to help the Thirteenth Doctor and her friends bring a stop to them.

or,

the Doctor gets to see Rose again and Rose meets Thirteen.

Rips.
Rifts.
Time breaks.
Whatever you called them, tears in the fabric of time and space were usually harmless and closed themselves without consequence. The ones that didn’t successfully do so, the Doctor took it upon themselves to deal with, either closing them or making sure they were carefully monitored.

Over two dozen popping up all over Sheffield, large enough for a lone valdosaurus to appear in Graham’s garden and making one of the Hallamshire Police patrol vehicles go missing? That was worth her attention, though the number of them wasn’t their most worrying aspect.

The app the Doctor has installed on Ryan’s phone chimes, the fourth time in nearly as many minutes. It dings a few seconds later, indicating that the break in time has closed.

Their frequency was what had called the Doctor back to Sheffield off-schedule. It also made fixing whatever was causing them a priority. Before the Doctor can address their cause though, she needs to do something about the symptoms, stem the rate at which the occurrences are happening and hopefully give her more time before they reach a critical mass.

For that she needs Yorkshire’s finest cup of tea and her friends that aren’t currently keeping a prehistoric dinosaur occupied and away from the front garden.

Rating: PG
Wordcount: 1747
Dedication: for the soulmate AU prompt given by [tumblr.com profile] zahniethe one where you and your soulmate share an emotional link“ and completed for [archiveofourown.org profile] AceMcshane

Summary:
The Doctor and the Master are bound to feel each other's emotions. They've gone through periods of delighting in this connection and through periods of denying what they feel isn't their own.
After the colony ship, after regenerating, the Thirteenth Doctor struggles to relearn how to ignore the longing in her hearts.

It works until it doesn't.

previously published as an ask on tumblr, but now edited and available on AO3

Once, their bond had made them inseparable. It had given them strength, the disapproving mutterings only driving them closer together, to the only other person who truly understood. Even the attempts to appeal to their pride as Time Lords in potentia and their duty to their Houses could not drive them apart.

No. They had driven each other away instead.

They eventually learned the ability to ignore the emotions that filtered through across time and space. It was easy to disregard the acrid resentment they shared, that mutual bitterness making it easier to believe that the emotion was their own. But it was harder to bury the desperate longing they each had, hide it deep enough they could pretend they didn't reciprocate the aching desire that drifted through the link between them like smoke.

Eventually they could even manage to disregard the blaze of emotion that flared into life when they stumbled across each other's paths. A task made easier if they each pretended the hurt and hope that flickered in the hearts of the other was their own.

Except it could never be easy for them to forget one another, to deny their connection to the only other person who could understand them. But they tried.

The bond between them had almost been doused on the shore of a lake, on a planet devoted to trial and execution. The light between them forever extinguished by her death, until she had offered up the tiniest spark of hope. A spark they hadn't been aware they both sheltered.

They had seventy glorious years, nurturing and fanning that glowing point of hope. Until it had grown out of control and consumed them both.

They're walking the University grounds, the night quiet, when he asks her. Missy has her arm through the Doctor's, wearing the bracelet that tethers her to his side, a security measure to keep Nardole satisfied, the Doctor rambling about some past adventure.

"This is nice," the Doctor interrupts himself mid-story.

"Excuse me?"

"This. Nice. Being together. Seeing the stars," the Doctor grins at her, eyebrows raised, as he gestures toward the sky with a wave.

Character/Pairing: Twelve/Missy, Thirteen/Missy
Genre: Romance, fluff, mild angst
Rating: G
Wordcount: 1709
Dedication: For [personal profile] zabbers and [archiveofourown.org profile] AceMcshane
Summary:
They've made so many promises to each other other the years. It's time to make one final vow.

or,

As children they promised to marry. Millennia later, in the Vault, they finally do so.

She's playing a Gallifreyan wedding song when he enters the vault sometime in the nineties. It's meant for four hands, but she does a remarkable job of condensing it for two, the melody and rhythm reduced down to their essential parts and free of the usual trademark flourishes of Gallifreyan music. The result is pleasing, and the Doctor finds it more enjoyable than the march played at his own wedding millennia ago, his steps lightening as he makes his way to the centre of the Vault.

"What's the occasion?" he asks, setting the tea tray down on the table nearest the piano and beginning to empty out his pockets. There's a couple of novels today, a half finished piece of crochet and a still warm soft boiled egg.

"Our marriage, silly." There's a purposeful flourish, a flick of the wrist to ruin his enjoyment of her playing.

The Doctor turns to face her, the tail end of the crochet still leading to the ball of wool in his pocket. "We're not married." It comes out cold and stern, something that seems to come easily to this body. He doesn't mean to sound so harsh, but he's surprised at her claim.

Title: the firebird

Series: Doctor Who
Character/Pairing: The Doctor (10th), original alien
Rating: PG
Genre: General
Spoilers/Warnings: None
Wordcount: 622
Theme/prompt: 29. howling at the far off sky
Author's Notes: I know almost nothing about ballet, except for a few technical terms and the stories, so I apologise for that. I would also like to apologise for this alien I've made up. Not at all sure if bird-evolved humanoid aliens could ever exist but I liked the image of a ballet dancing avian life form too much.
Please note that Passerine is the name of an order of birds and that 'Themadera' is a truncated form of Prosthemadera, the genus of the New Zealand tui, a bird which sings quite prettily although it doesn't dance.

The Doctor watches the alien that is now dancing around the central console of the TARDIS... )
