grassangel: a smiling Thirteenth Doctor with a flower behind her ear (happy)

Last night was really weird... my family is usually early dinner eaters (something I think is a holdover from when I was little and stuck around because of my dad's usual schedule) but because they both went to a shareholder's meeting, we ended up eating an hour before Torchwood started.

There isn't all that much to say about the episode though. I was expecting something a bit creepier than what actually happened and the person who wrote it didn't use all of it's potential. (Oh, how I wish Steve Moffat would write for Torchwood. Something like Blink once a season in Torchwood would be awesome.)

Can't complain too much though, as the writer DID focus on Ianto a bit more, as well as Jack/Ianto relationship. (A bit too much in my opinion, but at least my mum didn't comment about it...)

So yes, the Capt. Jack/Ianto was measuring far more than it had been and Ianto got some attention. (I grinned at the beginning when he, Gwen and Owen were outside the movie theatre and there was this note of geeky enthusiasm when he announced its name.) He saw LOADS of field action, which felt slightly weird. Maybe its because Tosh and Gwen were ignored in favour of him.
However, Owen did get his chance to shine, once. Being undead comes incredibly handy when whatever they're chasing after requires things to be living. So handy that it's almost amusing.

Anything else? Not really, except I find it amusing that it is highly likely that the circus people were probably played by real circus people, at least while they were performing. Capt. Jack's quote about how they longer exist was ironic because of that. (I didn't take too close a look at the credits but I'm pretty sure this would be the case. Even if circus performers are more likely to do shows indoors and be called troupes or vaudeville/cabaret performers nowadays.)

OH! And those damn British roundabouts!
I say this because there were several shots of Cardiff at night and I could see all the roundabouts. And I say damn because I swear the United Kingdom Department of Transport or Infrastructure love those things too much. When I visited in 2002, on the way to Somerset, there were at least a dozen? too many of them at any rate and they're huge things that make the Basin Reserve look small. (The Basin Reserve is basically a huge roundabout in Wellington, the centre of which is a cricket ground. A CRICKET GROUND.)

Also, my mum got all excited when she saw a re-run of DW season two playing. Okay, so it also had a preview of the first of the finale episodes and London!Torchwood, but still... (I do kinda want to rewatch those episodes though. Just to see possible appearances of Ianto and Tosh.)

OMG, I loved Blink, I thought it was such a brilliant episode. I totally freaked out the first time I watched it but I've rewatched it so many times now and I still love it!

It was totally freaky but even at the end of it I was ':O THAT WAS AWESOME'.
I loved 'The Girl in the Fireplace' as well and those two pretty much make up half of my favouritest Doctor Who episodes.
(This is slightly troublesome, as my other two favourite episodes are season 4 and thus I am torn to whether I like any of the episodes enough to spend time tracking down individual DVDs/coughing up for a season.)

Haha, yeah, you managed to cover all the seasons XD

I love The Girl in the Fireplace as well, and School Reunion... actually, I really love season two. You could always download individual episodes rather than buying a box set...

Well, except for the first.

I really love season four. It's mostly because of Donna (the character; because I'm not terribly fond of Catherine Tate herself) as she is pretty awesome and the best influence on the Doctor of all the newWho companions.
That and I think the more time progresses, the better the overall quality of the seasons gets. Thus I can't wait for the upcoming mini-series.
Alas, I'm afraid my conscience admiration of the BBC leads to me being rather hesitant to follow that suggestion. Although ignorance of where to download and general edginess of if it would involve BitTorrent lead to no small part of that hesitance either.

On UKTV I'm afraid, so unless you've gotten Sky recently, there's not much use in you knowing that it's playing on Thursdays at around 7:15 followed by the confidential of the episode.
