Two in one from the fan panel
Oct. 30th, 2018 02:48 amIt’s apparently pitch season, so two concepts were sent my way. One interesting, one not.
One was about football. Sports things are not that interesting to me, but hey, a female aspiring coach, a foreign player and a potentially gay character are somewhat interesting to me and I made that feeling clear, saying that I would like the diversity and range of stories told and that those characters were the ones I was most interested in.
Second was about Noor Inayat Khan, which was much more interesting.
And I gave much stronger responses. This was what I said when asked what I’d say I liked about the concept/programme
It's about a woman spy in WWII, Noor Inayat Khan, whose name you should recognise. It's about the challenges she faced, the strength with which she tackled them and what she contributed to the war effort.
And then I just went “It’s set in WWII” when asked what I disliked, because I know some people just don’t like WWII stuff. And then I gushed more about it in the free space given
I love the stories of surprising or unexpected heroes in WWII. Noor Inayat Khan is one, but so are people like Juan Pujol García, or the tailors for the SOE or the Ghost Army. They bring life to a historical event. I'm not terribly interested in dates or particular battles, but these people and what they did are interesting and highlight the ways the war was fought not just on battlefields.
