NO MUM, YOU ARE NOT TO BECOME A BJD FAN

My mum was walking by and popped into my room to say goodnight... and I had a BJD page up because while I have no intention of ever getting one (I like my plushies thank you very much) I do appreciate the pretties.
My mum appreciates the pretties too, and so she was going all 'oooh' over it.
Then she asks how much it is. I tell her it's expensive, but I don't know how expensive, just that people moan about it.
She asks again and I dutifully scroll to the prices. $765 US
She says that someday she'll have enough money to get one and pops back out.
Pops back in five seconds later to tell me she's just placed an order for seven paperweights for about the same price.
Mom, I don't want you to become a BJD fan. Even if it is for the pretties.
(There are several gorgeous custom doll makers living in Wellington, get something from them for only $500 NZ.)

Date: 2008-08-16 03:46 pm (UTC)... I am not sure how it would suck though.
Unless I was roped in to do the face up and costume. Then it'd suck.
And we do, though they all seem to live up Kapiti way.

Date: 2008-08-17 09:18 am (UTC)I think that vaguely makes sense...
There is NOTHING wrong with bright colours! :P but you are talking to a colour-obsessed art student here!

Date: 2008-08-17 11:19 am (UTC)It doesn't make sense...
*squeals excitedly* I has Breaking Dawn btw! And I shall ramble later about polypoid speciation!

Date: 2008-08-17 11:22 am (UTC)It doesn't? Crap. I'll try to think of what I meant in a more eloquent way, sometime.
:D Have you read the others? And please, do ramble! :P

Date: 2008-08-17 11:31 am (UTC)It kind of does in a 'I wouldn't want that to happen to me' kind of way. Kind of.
Have I read the others? I read Twilight almost before the lexicon was made.
I reeaally like Jacob's part. Not only because it's and awesome POV, but because... *dances* KARYOTYPES! Carlisle karyotyped vampires and werewolves and I'm excited even though I just did the section on speciation, this makes me want to do it again.

Date: 2008-08-17 11:37 am (UTC)Don't worry, my grandmother painted a whole huge room pink and filled it with antiques. We're all afraid to go in there, it's horrible and kitchsy.
Let's just leave it at 'I don't make sense and I'm sorry if I offended, I didn't mean to'
I never did Biology (I think that's what you're talking about, lol) - I really really wanted to, but it clashed with art, and that was always going to come first. (And it was just last year!)
I love the convo Leah and Jake have about Seth being dropped on his head and eating paint.

Date: 2008-08-17 12:00 pm (UTC)Now, the pink room and antiques would be what happens if my dad had to choose a paint colour and my mum HAD to put up with it so she could buy all the antiques she wants.
Yep, talking about biology. (Even if I am doing a graphic design course next year, only one place requires me to have any art credits. The rest just need portfolios.)
I'll write up my theories (as well as my Naruto ones) in more detail later. In detail normal people can follow.
